Mayor Don Iveson of Edmonton did a COVID-19 Update in Edmonton on March 18, 2020, making a passionate call to support local Edmonton Businesses, “…Edmontonians — you can still support local businesses: order takeout, buy a gift card for later use, shop online, and when stocking up on supplies consider your local grocers and businesses first…,” Mayor Iveson of Edmonton.
The Mayor, a champion of homelessness in Canada, a group that is often left out in this COVID-19 conversation, called on the other levels of government to help our underprivileged neighbours during this period of health and impending survival crisis, “…Regarding Vulnerable Citizens: Vulnerable populations remain a top concern for me. I have always seen homelessness as a public health emergency, with this new threat however, I worry that our homelessness problem will become a public health emergency if all levels of government do not act decisively.
