September 11, 2018, was a bright sunny day worthy of feeding my eyes with something that matches its brightness. That got me to make the short ride from Diversity Centre on 107 Avenue and 105 Street Edmonton to Allard Hall at 104 Avenue and 111 Street Edmonton. It was a bright new energy efficient shinny Allard Hall building of MacEwan University. As I walked into the building, I was greeted by the sights of students sitting in more comfy seats, looking more relaxed than the traditional seats we see in other buildings. I walked in through the front entrance and turn right into Roundhouse where I was joined by my host who doubled as my tour guide.
It was a pleasure to be given a tour of Roundhouse by Dr. Leo Wong Founding Director, Social Innovation Institute at MacEwan University. Roundhouse is a flexible, coworking space, that includes a marketplace, meeting rooms, event venue, and a shared kitchen and lounge. It’s a space where ideas and community can collide.
Roundhouse empowers members to make a positive impact on the world through coworking space, programs, resources and community of changemakers. If you see the value in finding solutions that are better, fairer, and greener – Roundhouse is the place for you.
The goal of the MacEwan University Social Innovation Institute is to foster a culture of social innovation in Edmonton and beyond. In partnership with Roundhouse, the institute supports members and the community through connecting programs, workshops, and events with academic faculty and students.
