Amy Giang is a serial entrepreneur who arrived in Canada in 1985 from Vietnam. She has founded a residential real estate business, a commercial real estate business, an online gifting service (NeverForgetADay.ca), Calgary’s largest independent express oil change and maintenance center (Lube Town), and a fund designed to help others help themselves to find financial wellbeing (VillageTree).

It’s important to acknowledge their contributions and individual successes. Today is a great day in the great city of Calgary for celebrating this wonderful recent arrivals. March 15, 2019, is the day that Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) and Calgarians celebrate the accomplishments of 23 new Canadians for the 23rd time in their history through the prestigious Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA). Diversity Magazine Team will be there to capture the moment of this sold out event at Mount Royal University in Calgary.

The theme for the 23rd Annual Awards is ‘Immigration – Building Canada’s Prosperity’. “This year we aim to recognize inspirational immigrants and refugees in our nation’s ever-expanding mosaic of ethnicities, languages, cultures, and talents that have come together to create a strong and prosperous Canada,” ISC.

“We are pleased to announce that this year’s event will feature a new format and venue! The awards ceremony, featuring special entertainment, will take place in the theatre of Mount Royal University’s prestigious Bella Concert Hall (located in the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts) and will be followed by a cocktail networking reception with hors d’oeuvres and silent auction. More than 500 guests will be in attendance, including prominent business leaders, high-ranking officials from all three levels of Canadian government, international representatives of government, immigrant and refugee communities and civic-minded Calgarians,” ISC.
