You know what, you can still apply…

The Government of Canada has announced plans to help support Canadians through the next phase of the recovery from September 27, 2020, after CERB ran out on September 26, 2020.

CERB will continue for those who are yet to max out the 28-week period and will continue receiving their CERB payment until October 3, 2020. Those who recently realized that they qualify but never applied can now apply before December 3, 2020, and claim payments from March 15-October 3, 2020. Canadians who have exhausted their CERB will be transitioned onto Employment Insurance.

Those Canadians who got CERB through Service Canada will automatically transition to Employment Insurance (EI). While those who received CERB through the Canada Revenue Agency will need to apply for Employment Insurance again through Service Canada and a My Service Canada account.

The Government intends to introduce new legislation to support the implementation of three new support benefits.

The Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) will provide $400 per week for up to 26 weeks, to workers who are self-employed or are not eligible for EI and who still require income support and who are available and looking for work.

The Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) will provide $500 per week for up to two weeks, for workers who are sick or must self-isolate for reasons related to COVID-19.

The Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB) will provide $500 per week for up to 26 weeks per household, for eligible Canadians unable to work.
