Colours, Culture, and Celebration: Ivorians in Calgary Mark 65 Years of Independence Music, laughter, and the aroma of traditional dishes filled the air at Unison at Kerby Centre on August 16, as the Ivorian-Canadian Association of Calgary brought the community together to celebrate the 65th Independence Day of Côte d’Ivoire. What began with a spirited soccer match ended in a dazzling gala of colours, making the day a true showcase of unity and pride. Guests were treated to captivating cultural dances, a heartfelt presentation on the role of women in Ivorian society, and a rich spread of authentic cuisine featuring attiéké, fried rice, and more Ivorian specialties. As the evening drew to a close with the cake cutting, the celebration erupted into an energetic dance floor, where Ivorians and friends alike shared in joy, rhythm, and togetherness.

Musique, rires et parfum de plats traditionnels ont rempli l’air à Unison au Kerby Centre le 16 août, alors que l’Association Ivoiro-Canadienne de Calgary réunissait la communauté pour célébrer le 65ᵉ anniversaire de l’indépendance de la Côte d’Ivoire. Ce qui a commencé par un match de football animé s’est terminé par un somptueux gala de couleurs, faisant de cette journée une véritable vitrine d’unité et de fierté.
Les invités ont pu assister à des danses culturelles captivantes, à une présentation émouvante sur le rôle des femmes dans la société ivoirienne, et à un riche buffet de cuisine authentique comprenant attiéké, riz frit et d’autres spécialités ivoiriennes.
Alors que la soirée touchait à sa fin avec la découpe du gâteau, la célébration s’est transformée en une piste de danse animée, où Ivoiriens et amis ont partagé joie, rythme et convivialité.
