Are you operating within a triangle?

Some say there is nothing to see in Edmonton. Others say Edmonton is too cold and they cannot go out. Well, it is summer now and the temperature is friendly. What excuse do this people have this time? This nothing to see stuff is certainly coming from people who have not explored Edmonton and its surroundings. This people may fall into the category that I call “Triangle Operators”; from home to workplace, and to market or church or to a function of people from the same ethnic group in their country.

Guys, this summer, broaden your network, make new friends who do not look like you, connect, and certainly reap the benefits of self integration, if I should call it that. With this triangle of three major locations that you only go to, you certainly are missing out on lots of other stuffs; from fun stuffs to serious stuffs that can impact you socially, and or professionally.

Those who do not have a mastery of their surroundings, will never be able to influence what surrounds them.

This summer, challenge yourself to go out of your triangle of locations and try a new discovery; maybe for fun, or to connect with others, for the kids to play new games, maybe learn about other cultures, make new friends, or get to know your surroundings better. Take yourself out of the usual places that you go to and try something new today. Google events in Edmonton to see an endless list of events, or check events on Facebook if you so choose. If you’ve not been to, I must say the exciting Africanival is coming up next weekend July 13 and 14, 9 AM to 9 PM, at 10581 107 St., so too is the wonderful Edmonton Carnival on the same days but taking place at 9210 118 Avenue. The historic Edmonton River Boat Ride, called the All White Boat Party, is coming up on August 4, 2019, and many many more exciting and interesting stuffs to spice up your summer and explore what I call FANTASTIC EDMONTON.

Are you an outdoor guy who likes nature?

If you are the outdoor type, there are so many options too, such as; community events, festivals, parks, picnics, lakes, rivers, buildings, arts, crafts, games, malls, centres, gardens, museums, galleries, and I have shared my own experiences riding my bicycle around Edmonton on Diversity Magazine website (www.diversitymag.ca), in the section on Travel called, Frankline’s Summer Travel.

I have been saying all month of June that if you don’t know where you are coming from you will certainly not where where you are going. I will add in July that if you do not have a mastery of your surroundings, you will never be able to influence what surrounds you.

Till next Friday, keep being curious and knowing your surrounding. Keep making new friends, connecting and influencing as well!
