The Africa Centre Soccer Tournament 2019 took place from June 29 to June 30, 2019 at M.E Lazerte Sports Field with Ghana emerging victorious out of the nine teams that took part.

The event created the opportunity for members of the community, and non members to connect at an individual level, network, cheer their team, share the dishes, shop from the vendors and have fun. African Children were a big part of this family-friendly event as they had fun jumping in the bouncy castle.

The Africa Centre two-day soccer tournament each year that brings together all African communities in Edmonton as well as soccer enthusiasts from all walks of life to celebrate the game of soccer and participate in other sporting activities. The event provides an opportunity for talented soccer players in the African community to showcase their talents. The event is also a family affair with bouncy castle, kids’ soccer and fun activities for families and children.

This year from among 13 participating countries, Ghana emerged as champion defeating Libera in a highly contested match. Trophy for the championship and other awards will be given during Africa Day Gala slated for August 31 at the Grand Imperial Banquet and Conference Centre on 3840 76 Ave NW, Edmonton.
