After months of planning, on February 17, 2018, Africa Centre youth group, YEG The Come Up presented two sold out theatres of a private community-based screening of Marvel’s Black Panther at Cineplex Odeon South Edmonton Common, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, called Melanin Narratives III:Black Panther Private Community Screening.
An army of Black Panther enthusiast marched into Cinplex Odeon theatres in South Edmonton Common to watch the Afro-centric movie. This kept YEG The Come UP team led by Belen Samuel very busy with tickets and organization of the event. “Melanin Narratives has for the past three years, brought together community to showcase a collective storyline and greater narrative that work towards strengthening our voices by uplifting our communities,” their Facebook message read.

• African and Caribbean catering, provided at the Theatre
• Photo Booth with props
• After party at Rec Room (South): a community-driven panel discussion
